PADI Specialty Diver courses - what is it?
PADI Specialty Diver Courses (PADI Specialties) on Koh Tao Island - it’s 1-2 days diving courses, which provide more in-depth knowledge, unique skills and techniques in a particular area or related to a specific underwater activity.
PADI Specialty courses are a fun and flexible way to hone your diving skills and knowledge into the areas that you’re really interested in!
All divers have various interests. Some divers like to explore shipwrecks and want to get more information and experience in this area. A lot of people want to dive deeper and stay underwater longer. Others are interested in taking underwater photos or video. Some of them are happy to do a particular activity, like looking for lost objects underwater.
We will help you to improve your diving skills and explore your favorite areas of interest in a flexible and focused way.
PADI Specialties - credits for training dives
When participating in PADI Specialty Diver Courses you may get credit for dives from previous courses. For example, if you’re already completed your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course you’ve done Deep dive as a required dive, this means you have completed the first dive of PADI Deep Diver specialty course. So, if you continue your training and complete three more Deep dives, you will earn PADI Deep Diver specialty certification (as there are 4 training dives in PADI Deep Diver course). In this case, PADI Deep Diver course cost will be lower in proportion to the number of dives.
It works the opposite way as well. With PADI Underwater Navigator certification, for example, you have to complete only 4 training dives instead of 5 to receive your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certificate.
What PADI Specialties are available on Koh Tao Island?
There are 33 PADI Specialty Courses available in the PADI system. Some of them require special equipment or special diving conditions, so not all of them are available in our Diving Centers. Obviously, we are not able to conduct some Specialties such as Ice Diver, Altitude Diver or Drift Diver due to the lack of ice, mountains or strong currents.
