How much does diving on Koh Samui cost?
The prices for diving in different diving centers on Koh Samui are very different. Also, the price depends on whether you have a diver certificate or not. If you are a certified diver, then a dive tour to the nearest islands with two dives and lunch costs ฿2,990, if there is no certificate, then the cost will be ฿3,990
Why is diving on Koh Samui so expensive?
This is due to the fact that the dive sites are located at a sufficient distance from Samui. The nearest dive spots are within 60 km. Therefore, a significant part of the cost of diving is the cost of transporting divers to dive sites and back on high-speed catamarans or speed boats. For comparison, two dives on the nearest Koh Tao island cost about ฿1,400 (two and a half times cheaper than on Koh Samui) because most of the dive sites are located very close to the island
How much does it cost to learn scuba diving on Koh Samui and how long does it take?
There are two basic diving courses for beginners. PADI Scuba Diver, cost ฿8,990, takes 2 days and PADI Open Water Diver, cost ฿10,990, takes 3 days. Accommodation is included in the course price. Upon completion of the course, you will receive an international PADI diver certification.
What is the difference between the PADI Scuba Diver course and the PADI Open Water Diver course?
First, the difference is in the maximum depth: 12 and 18 meters, respectively. Secondly, in the first case you will be able to dive under supervision of dive professional (instructor or divemaster) only, in the second, plan and execute dives with certified buddy (same certification level or higher). That's why, on the PADI Open Water Diver course, you will learn more theory and make more training dives.
I have a diver certificate but I haven't dived for a long time, what should I do?
If your have less than 20 logged dives and you had a break for more than 12 months, you will need to complete the PADI Scuba Review program (refresh program). This program includes an overview of the basics of diving theory and practical skills of the PADI Open Water Diver Course.
Is there any shore diving on Koh Samui?
No, there is no shore diving on Koh Samui. Almost all interesting dive sites are located near Koh Tao Island, which is 60 km away from Samui. This is one of the best diving destinations in Thailand.
Do you provide accommodation for the duration of diving training?
Yes, the price of all diving courses on Samui include accommodation for the course duration.
What is included in the cost of diving courses?
In our diving center, the cost of diving training includes everything except food. In particular, the price includes:
- All transfers from your hotel to dive sites and back
- Accommodation for the course duration
- Training materials
- International PADI Diver Certificate
- Equipment rental
- Tea, coffee, snacks, fruits on the dive boat
What is the best season for diving in Koh Samui?
Diving on Samui is possible almost all year round. The rainy season usually lasts from November to January.During this time there may be poor visibility, waves and storms that can make diving difficult. The rest of the year is great for diving. However, the best season for diving is from March to June.
I want to try scuba diving on Samui, but have never dived before, how can I do it, what diving program can I choose?
A special program PADI Discover Scuba Diving has been developed especially for those who want to try scuba diving.This is a one-day program, you will learn some basics of diving physics and physiology, safety rules, scuba diving equipment and make 2 dives to a maximum depth of 12 meters under direct supervision of PADI Instructor.
I can't swim, can I try diving and take a diving course?
If you can't swim, you can participate in PADI Discover Scuba Diving program (try diving) and make 2 dives under direct supervision of PADI Instructor. You must be able to swim to complete diving training and earn your PADI diver certification. Certification requirement for PADI Scuba Diver is to complete a 10 minutes swim/float in water too deep to stand. The PADI Open Water Diver requires an additional 200 meters surface swim.
What are the medical contraindications for scuba diving?
There are three main contraindications for diving:
- Asthma
- Epilepsy
- Diabetes
With these diagnoses, diving can only be done with the permission of a medical doctor.
Can I dive if I have back problems and can’t lift weights?
For all medical problems, of course, it is better to visit a medical doctor. However, in cases where weight lifting is contraindicated, you will learn how to put on and take off your diving equipment in the water, which will relieve you of the strain on your back.
Do you have any discounts for advance bookings?
Yes, there is a system of discounts when booking diving on our website. Also, during the COVID-19 period, we have additional discounts of up to 32%.
Do I need a prepayment to book diving on your website?
No, no payment is required to book diving. However, a prepayment of 1,500 is required in a couple of days in advance to book a transfer on high-speed catamaran to Koh Tao Island and back
What are your payment methods?
Payment is possible by cash, credit card, PayPal or transfer to Thai bank account.
What is your cancellation and refund policy? Are there cancellation fees?
Cancellation without penalties is possible until 8 p.m on the day before the dive tour is running. After 8 p.m the cost of the ticket Koh Samui - Koh Tao - Koh Samui is not refundable ( ฿1,400)
